It was a tough assignment on Saturday to take on a very physical Eagle Rock team coached by former OMBAC/SD Breakers 10 Kalei Conrad.

Eagle Rock started with a hard hitting defense and they contested fiercely at the breakdown but we matched their physicality with big hits from Sione Masoe, Ben Weischedel and Bruce Yun. Early in the match we had good possession field position, but we struggled to make a dent on the score line  with our final passes not going to hand but finally our dominance paid off with a good break from halfway finished off by Shingirai Hlanguyo. Not be outdone Daniel Bird on the other wing scored in the 24th minute and was converted by James Muse. Eagle Rock held on with physical defense to close out the half 12-0.

The second half was all Eagle Rock as they came out strong and with a simple missed tackle, they scored a try and converted but we weathered their purple patch and our persistent attack and through our dominant lineout and solid scrum we closed out the final 20mins scoring 19 points to zero. Daniel Bird In the 60th minute  Daniel Bird started the scoring spree   and was soon followed by a good individual effort by Ephraim Teo which was again converted by Muse. Finally, Ethan Moxley got on the scoreboard at the second attempt and was convert by Muse.
Saturday’s match was a must win with a bonus point game for us to give us maximum points and our rapidly improving defense under the watchful eye of Coach Phil Ayres managed to hold Eagle Rock to a single score.
